A Very Personal Christmas

It's coming up, that day of cheer and goodwill. It's bringing to mind some very private thoughts and feelings. I figure a personal blog is as good a place as any to share them.
And I guess I feel those emotions of cheer and goodwill, in my own way. I'll always drop a few coins in salvation army's Santa's bucket.
The main focus of my life is my mom. I'm her full-time caretaker in exchange for room, board and regular gifts.
So christmas, to me, is very insular. We have our own traditions, and we don't get out much. Have you ever tried to maneuver a walker over a nearly invisible patch of ice?
But we are also very happy, very comfortable and well fed. Christmas day marks my mother's only glass of Bailey's. A small crystal goblet, barely more than a shot.
This year, I am lucky. Her health seems...tenuous, but it's not, really. We finally got her on a dialysis schedule that works for her, i had a chat with her doctor and we worked out a menu for her.
We are here, we are happy, we are generally healthy, in that there are no crises. We have a Honey Baked Ham in the fridge. My brother and sister will be showing up during the day. This is shaping up to be a fantastic christmas. I hope you enjoy yours!
However you celebrate this holiday season, I hope you're warm and secure through these dreary and cold months.
